Barenaked Ladies: New Album. Free. No DRM. Now.

March 6, 2007 – 11:31 am | by potsie

Techcrunch has a write-up on a new service to distribute/sell music online. The Barenaked Ladies new album will be DRM-free and, for a short while, the songs will be free. As songs become more popular, their cost will rise, with a cap of $0.98/song. Ths is a big win for consumers; we are getting quality music, DRM-free, and it’s not tied to a platform/device/service.

…two minutes later…

I went to the web site and the songs are no longer free, but they’re still cheap. Prices range from $0.51/song up to $0.95/song. The entire album is available for only $9.77.
